making work meaningful
We work with people on a daily basis, which is why our work has a deeper meaning. Find out when our employees felt that they had a positive influence on others.
I work in a call center, so I receive many calls every day asking about available job offers. One time a candidate, who had not been able to find a job for about a year, called me. I learned that three years before the protection period, her previous position had been made redundant due to a reduction in jobs. She had vast professional experience and a lot of knowledge. Currently, apart from the lack of a job, she has a lack of contact with people. She was looking for a job where she could have contact with them. Then, during this interview, I understood that it was not just a phone call redirecting the candidate to the appropriate recruiter. Sometimes, it's more than that. Thanks to these interviews, I know how important it is to contact our candidates.

A few years ago, we implemented a project for several hundred people in a small town. We hired people with development potential. Various people came to us, but I remembered one lady who decided to return to work after several years of taking care of children. She came to us hunched over, staring at the ground. It was obvious that she was not very confident, but she was highly motivated, and she got the job. After a few months, she came to our office for a certificate and I hardly recognized her. She was smiling and walking with her head held high. The return to the labor market caused a very positive change in this person. I have seen many such stories of transformations, which is why I feel satisfaction with every person employed.

I deal with calculating salaries for our clients' employees. One of our clients used our payroll services, and he ran the HR part himself, using our system. During the holiday season, as usual, I talked to the contact person of this one client, and during the conversation, it turned out that Ania is going on vacation in 2 days and has a problem with issuing annexes for all employees before her vacation. Due to the fact that I had access to the company's HR data, I was able to help Mrs. Ania with generating annexes, so that she could go on vacation without any problems.

After 3 years of working at Randstad, I decided to change the industry and the nature of my work. I quickly got involved in selling new services and started gaining clients, but I was missing something. There was no place for a relationship with the client. I did not see the effects of my work. At Randstad, I have always seen a needy customer first and a satisfied customer later. In the same way, I was able to observe candidates — first looking for a job, then getting satisfied when they got an offer, and staying employed. The possibility of close cooperation with clients also allowed us to observe the long-term effects of her work — the flourishing of a given employee in the company's structure at the client's. After 3 months, there was an opportunity to return to the Randstad structures. I took advantage of this, and I do not regret it because I do what I like, and I can see what it is for :-)

One morning a candidate came to our Staffing office. She was interested in one of the offers on the site and decided to come in and ask us about it. After a nice conversation, I asked her to send me her CV. The next day, one of Randstad's regular customers called me and asked if we had someone to replace him at the reception because the permanent employee fell ill and needed help. I immediately thought about Ms. Monika, who was in the office the previous day, because she met all the client's expectations. I called the candidate, who reacted very enthusiastically, and of course, accepted the offer. It was actually her first serious office job. The client was so pleased that every time he needed a replacement at the reception, he asked about Ms. Monika. I remember visiting a client to give Ms. Monika a contract. She always fondly remembered our first meeting and thanked me for giving her a chance. After several years of work as a temporary worker, the client offered Ms. Monika a permanent job. She just finished her day studies and was able to start working full-time. Randstad lost a temporary employee but gained an even more loyal client because, after a few months, Ms. Monika became our contact person on the client's side. The company works with Randstad to this day.

One day, returning from work, I stopped at a nearby supermarket to do some shopping for the weekend. Before entering, a young man asked me to buy something to eat, explaining that he lives in the attic and has no means of subsistence. I took the risk and did basic shopping for the stranger. Handing the shopping bag to the man, I asked why he wouldn't take a job that would help him take care of, for example, the basic needs. I saw the discomfort in his eyes. With his head down, in a low voice, he said that he was trying to find a job, but to no avail. He mentioned that he is aware that he does not make a good first impression (CV written by hand on a sheet of paper, worn clothes, poor education). Without hesitation, I invited the man to a recruitment meeting. On Monday, at the appointed time, he came to our Randstad office. He was stressed out, there was fear in his eyes, but also hope. The interview went really well and the young man joined the ranks of our employees. These are the moments when I feel that my work has a deeper meaning.
